A long days walk climbing the highest mountain in England. The route starts from Seathwaite in Borrowdale and cimbs via Sty Head and the Corridor Route to Lingmel Col, where a short detour may take in the views from the summit of Lingmell, before continuing to the summit of Scafell Pike.

From the summit of Scafell Pike the route turns north along the summit ridge over the lesser tops of Broad Crag and Ill crag before descending to Esk Hause where magnificent views over Langdale and Windermere can be seen on a good day before descending below the massive crag of Great End the the Grains Gill path, an easy descent alongside the gill will bring us out on the main path back to Seathwaite.

Essential Info:
As with all outdoor activities, the weather is an unpredictable factor, consequently you will need to provide yourself with sensible, reliable walking gear. You must wear strong, ankle supporting walking boots, bring all wet-weather gear and a torch with spare batteries. Click here for the equipment list

Directions:
By Road:
Seathwaite is at the southern end of the Borrowdale Valley and is best aproached from the Keswick Area.
From Keswick follow the Borrowdale road, leaving the town pas the Booths Supermarket and following the lakeshore south. Continue on this road assing through Rosthwaite village until a lane leads left over a bridge (signposted to Seathwaite) just before the road reaches Seatoller.
Continue along this road until the parking spaces on the left, the farm is at the end of the road. Plenty of parking is avaliable on the roadside all the way down to the farm with a turning space at the end.

By Bus:
The 79 bus service runs hourly between Keswick and Seatoller (20 minutes walk up the road)
