The route starts from the centre of Grasmere and climbs the wonderful ridge between Silver How and Sergeant Man before descending over Tarn Crag to the Easdale Valley.

From the Red Lion Pub we will folow the track past Allan Bank climbing gently by Wray Gill to the wonderful little summit of Silver How. Here the views over Windermere, Langdale , Rydal and Grasmere are all magnificent.

A good path now leads along the rough ridge snaking between crags and tarns to the summit of Blea Rigg and continuing, with views over to the Langdale Pikes and beyond, climbing to the rocky summit of Sergeant Man.

From Sergeant Man the summit of High Raise is just a short walk away on gentle grassy ground.

The path to Tarn crag is a very feint path between rocky slopes, but a gentle downhill walk leads to thequiet little summit, with views over Easdale Tarn below. The descent from the crag then takes us to Sourmilk Gill where we will cross the gill to a good path on the other side dscending alongside the waterfalls to the valley and the short walk back into Grasmere.
